In 2000, Susan Frazier and Adam Bell founded Whispering Brook while pursuing their Bachelor of Applied Science in Wine Science at Charles Sturt University.

Whispering Brook is located in the picturesque Broke Fordwich region of the Hunter Valley. The property features established Shiraz vines planted on the highly sought-after “Fordwich Sill,” a red volcanic clay formation that enriches the soil with valuable trace elements like basalt and iron. This unique terroir is essential to producing our premium wines. Additionally, sandy loam soils near the Wollombi Brook, which borders one end of the property, provide the perfect conditions for high-quality white grapes.

Our passion for Portuguese grape varietals, ignited by a winemaking trip to Portugal in 2007, has led to the introduction of several award-winning Portuguese varietals at Whispering Brook. The estate also features a charming olive grove and a spacious guesthouse, enhancing the experience for visitors.
